They have to subtract across zero do figure out how much is left in their budget after every purchase. With my class we ended up making posters. We cut out each option that they chose. then gluing those and the worksheet on a green poster paper. Calculator Organizer
This is a template that helps you organization calculator assignments. Take a sharpie and write numbers on your calculators, 1-35. Then, type in student names to the template and print out. Display it near the calculators in your room. Another method for this is to print and laminate. Then, write on the laminated sheet with an expo marker or sharpie. Going on a U.S. Concert Tour!
Students will practice using multiplication in a practical way that they will love. Students will pick a favorite band, decide which U.S. cities they will tour to, find venues in those cities online, decide on ticket pricing, and then use multiplication to figure out how much would be made at each venue if they were sold out. This not only is fun, it is also eye-opening as they see how much their favorite musicians can profit in ticket sales.
