This is a cute little turkey poem to use as a gift for parents or could be made into a placemat or book. Print the page in color or black and white and have each child make a handprint in the middle. Paint the palm of the hand brown and each finger a different color for the feathers. Draw a beak, waddle, and feet on the turkey. Laminate to use as a placemat! This is a follow exercise for correlating gospel and slave narrative songs to the "The Hanging Tree" song from the hit movie "Mockingjay". To pre-teach this worksheet, play a sample or two of gospel music like "Roll Jordan Roll" or "Wade into the Water".
