A trammel is a small strip of wood, plastic or other material which moves in such a way that its end points trace out two curves, C1 and C2. A pencil is inserted into the trammel and as the trammel moves, the pencil traces out a curve. The document gives a description of how to make trammels and investigate their properties mathematically. The suggestions made in the document make it suitable for an IB Extended Essay investigation.

Brief History of Trigonometry
Trigonometry has a rich history, and this assignment explores it! It can serve as an introduction to the topic that gives some meaning to the word sine before students use it mathematically.
