Reading Comprehension Strategy Cards Ring for Reading Notebook Responses
I created, printed, and laminated these comprehension strategy cards and put the cards on a ring. Each of these 15 cards has a strategy (inferring, main idea/details, questioning) and graphic organizer ideas or sentence starters that students can refer to when reading independently. Students use this ring of thinking stems and graphic organizer ideas to help them create responses in their reading notebooks during independent reading time.

"All Summer in a Day" Rewritten for Struggling Readers
This classic short story by Ray Bradbury is often taught to middle school students. I have rewritten it here for students reading at a third grade level so that struggling readers can comprehend it. I have preserved similes and metaphors, for the most part, to help struggling readers work on untangling those for both denotative and connotative meaning.
