Creative Writing Identity Activity- The Quilt of Me
This is a creative writing activity I did with students, useful for personal narrative essays or any other non-fiction creative writing projects. We talked about how identity is not a box you put yourself into, but a quilt patched together of all the things that are meaningful to who you are. Had students put in each box of the quilt something relevant to who they are. Then I had them use those details to put either into a poem or as inspiration for a personal essay.

La vida de Federico Garcia Lorca
Presentation about the life and work of the Spanish poet Garcia Lorca. It is based on the book "Lorca, la valiente alegrÃa" by Aroa Moreno and it introduces students to his life and some texts and a poem. It is aimed at grade 11-12 Spanish students studying higher level Spanish and can be used before reading one of Lorca's books such as La casa de Bernarda Alba.

Poetic Device Scavenger Hunt
Distribute some poems and have students identify and highlight poetic devices like similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and imagery. Discuss what these are and the overall impact on the reader's experience.
Poetry Analysis Jigsaw
Divide students into small groups, assigning each group a different poem. Have each group analyze the assigned poem's themes, tone, and literary devices, and present their findings to the class.
Poetry Slam or Performance
