As a bilingual educator I have found that Spanish reader's theater is a valuable tool to get Spanish language learners to practice their oral development. Although I have used these scripts in my First grade classroom, they would also work well for secondary Spanish classes. Little Red Riding Hood is easy to follow with its repetitive phrases and familiar storyline. This reader's theater is an excellent way for students who are

This play “The 3 Little Elves and The Big Bad Scrooge” was written by Dana Ciuro as a Holiday Performance- can be used either as a class performance or for an entire grade level - of two to three classes. It is a spin-off of the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf. The story centres around the sibling Charlie and Richie (get is Charles Dickens!) and is based on the same structure as A Christmas Carol...however during the play Richie is the only one who sees this connection. The rhymes are in couplets, and the lines are simple - a letter, and then no more than 5 words for each line! This poem can be performed by students at any grade level. As a performance piece, it can be enhanced with costumes, movement, posters, etc., to bring forth the characterization.
