Voice & Diction - Acting - Open Scenes Practice
This lesson includes a YouTube link to a sample open scene for students to watch. Open scenes are short scenes that student can perform vocally. Depending on how they choose to use their voices with rate, inflection, volume, pauses, etc., the meaning of the scene changes. Six sample scenes are included for students practice. I recommend having students perform one of the scenes in front of the class or you can have them record one of the scenes and submit it for a grade.

Use this handout to review the different kinds of listening--appreciative, critical, deliberative, and empathic. Have students watch Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in "Who's on First." This video clip is now in the public domain and can easily be found through a simple internet search. You can also try this website http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTcRRaXV-fg. Poetry in Motion Choreography Project
This is an individual choreography project for upper level dance students. I think this would be a good project for a theater class too. This contains a slides presentation that gives the instructions for the assignment. We are on block scheduling and this takes us 3 days. One to find a poem, work on choreography, and then perform.
