TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have had the opportunity to teach English and Language Arts for the past sixteen years. While I have spent the majority of my time teaching in middle school, most recently I embarked on a new journey as a high school English teacher, where I spent my first two years teaching. I am a National Board certified teacher and was the English Department Lead at my school for eight years. I completed the National Writing Project cohort in 2010, and was the first of four teachers to collaborate on the Assessment Alignment Project in my District. I love working in the classroom everyday changing the lives of young people.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that students learn best when put into interactive situations that include clear goals and differentiated instruction. Most of my resources and my teaching style reflects hands on learning where students are the doing the work and I am the facilitator. Most importantly, LEARNING SHOULD BE FUN!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have a 10 year old son that inspires me to continue learning daily. I love watching the wonder in his eyes as he discovers new things, and hope to instill that excitement in my students eyes. That "AHA" moment is my favorite part of teaching. I always try to remember the all of my students (even the challenging ones) are someone's child.
