Claim, Evidence and Reasoning (C.E.R.) Rubric NGSS
This is a rubric that is specifically design for CER's. In next generation science and now in general, science is all about CER's. The student creates a claim based on observations. Then collects evidence to collaborate claim. Finally, the student uses scientific concepts, theories, and laws to reason why his/her claim is a valid claim. Please see my 3 C.E.R. specific tests.

Interactive periodic table project
This is a two part project. Students are given a small pizza box in which they have to create a square for their element to be a part of the class periodic table. The at-home portion of the project is the creation of the square. The in class project is to create a commercial to "advertise" the element assigned. Each box cover is then transformed into a "QR" type code using an augmented reality app such as
Aurasma.

PBL: Scientific Method
Students can learn on their own through this PBL. Included is a 2 week project calendar and a experimental design chart to follow. Also included is the grading rubric. As the students go through the PBL make sure that you are constantly checking for their understanding. This goes with a FLIPPED Classroom Design as well. They are responsible for watching selected videos that you will select for their homework and you will hold "workshops" when help is needed.

This project outlines the expectations and requirements for students to create a product of their choice (brochure, rap/song, video, model, comic) explaining the following concepts: - Ionic Bonding- Covalent Bonding- Valence electrons and how they are related to each type of bond- How periodic trends affect bonding (what kinds of atoms are involved in each type of bond?)There is a rubric that includes all of the components of the project.

This project was created to allow students to choose a chemical they are interested in researching and apply some of the main concepts from the semester to their chosen chemical.
