JW Pepper Chorus Project

This is a project that I use with my middle and high school choirs, but it could easily work in a general music setting as well. In this project, students explore the choral music website, JW Pepper. They look through choral music and select three songs that are of interest to them. They then fill out the information on the project worksheet and explain why they chose each of the three songs. This project is a way for the students to see what goes into selecting repertoire for concerts and also

I finally wrote it down in case I switch schools again - and now you can have it too! This 4-page checklist assumes you are starting out at a brand-new school with absolutely nothing, so it will work even if you inherited an orchestra program that has been hastily left in disarray. Ideal for new teachers, veteran teachers who have switched schools, or anyone else who wants to feel more organized a

This is a really cool project for students to get to know more about musicians. I tried to pick musicians that they might not know as well, but would still recognize. Even if students ask, I do not let them pick people outside of the list. But you can obviously feel free to modify the musicians or the questions. I also have students present about one musician of their choosing. You will get a lot of the same people talked about, but they think it’s really cool.
