Music Technology Curriculum Map

Thanks for taking a look at my product! I have spent countless hours developing the curriculum for my Music Technology courses and I found that creating the curriculum map was one of the most time-intensive parts. I sincerely hope that this resource will be a huge time-saver for you. As you browse through it you will notice that it is aligned with the NAFME National Music Standards for Music Technology and is divided into four quarters (for a full year- or can be separated into two semesters). This is a project that I use with my middle and high school choirs, but it could easily work in a general music setting as well. In this project, students explore the choral music website, JW Pepper. They look through choral music and select three songs that are of interest to them. They then fill out the information on the project worksheet and explain why they chose each of the three songs. This project is a way for the students to see what goes into selecting repertoire for concerts and also

This project allows students to have a snapshot of each musical time period. This can be an individual project or group project. Students research and fill out each time period's box. I have posters in my room with all the information on them, but students can go online and research as well. I also like to have students cut out each box after they have filled them in and create a visual timeline on posters/paper. This can be as extensive or simple of a project as you'd like!

This is a really cool project for students to get to know more about musicians. I tried to pick musicians that they might not know as well, but would still recognize. Even if students ask, I do not let them pick people outside of the list. But you can obviously feel free to modify the musicians or the questions. I also have students present about one musician of their choosing. You will get a lot of the same people talked about, but they think it’s really cool.
