Linear functions: application to climbing a mountain
I developed this (and other) worksheets to tie calculus into the year of the Mathematics of Planet Earth, 2013. This worksheet asks students to apply their knowledge of linear functions, rate of change, and percentages to figuring out how much oxygen is available in Denver or on Mount Everest. The last question asks the student to critique their own linear model in discussion with peers and the teacher.
