The lessons use pictures and information about our dog to make the task more interesting for both students and teachers. As a speech-language pathologist, I find that getting my students to infer and generate their own ideas is very challenging. However, when they are positively engaged, the task becomes easier.

What is Makayla Thinking Part 5
In this lesson, we look at our dog Makayla's sleeping habits. Students consider how a history of neglect could affect where she likes to sleep. They are encouraged to research the sleeping habits of wolves and puppies to further support a preference for being with others. Inference skills and writing are emphasized.
