20 Minute Reading Test Taking Strategy Activity (teacher slides included)

This interactive google doc follows a gradual release model to teach students how to eliminate answer choices and select the BEST choice even when they all seem correct. The activity includes CC informational reading passages and questions with a fun acronym to help students remember the strategy. My students love it, and it has definitely helped to increase their reading scores. Because it is a google doc, you can add more passages as needed. I added Gslides to help better instruct students.

This handout is a guide I use to set up class discussion so students stay on topic, are constructive and engaged in critical thinking. Depending on the level of the students, you can change the amount of points earned to receive an A. Typically this guide works well for honors class but can used(if practiced frequently )with college prep. It takes time for them to catch on but when they do, the discussion is wonderful! I make a chart with the students' names and check it off for easy scoring.
