Parts of a Seed
Use this page to teach students the parts of a seed. Soak fresh seeds (We used lima beans) in water until they absorb water, the seed coat starts to come off, and they start to split open. Should take several hours. Students will each get their own seed and will be able to identify each part on their seed. They will tape each part of their seed to the bottom of their paper.

Zones of Regulation Problem Solving and Think Sheets

I used this template to create Writing Offices for my third grade students. The students have these offices available when they are writing and can refer to the information listed there! It includes information about: the writing process, an editing checklist, punctuation, writing super sentences, transition and story words, letter formation (both print and cursive) and a space to put current work.

Sound Vocabulary Cards
These vocabulary cards are used for my sound unit. The words include vibration, sound wave, echo, wavelength, frequency, pitch, amplitude, and volume. Each card contains a definition and a picture. I made these to save time because it is much easier to print them on card stock or have them paste them to an index card than to have them write out vocabulary as called for in my curriculum guide. These cards are also sold as part of a set called Energy Unit Vocabulary Cards including all three units

Pinch Cards
A type of formative assessment that allows you to see at a glance which students can give the correct response to see who is understanding the lesson as you go. I printed them on colored paper/cardstock. (same sheet on front and back) I laminated the sheets, cut out the cards, and placed them on a binder ring. The students hung them on a hook on the side of their desks and pulled them out whenever called for.
