Discovering History: Integrating Literacy Skills Through Student Presentations
This product was created in an attempt to continue our classroom momentum in both Social Studies and History prior to our statewide exams. It seems as though this subject falls short as we prepare for both Reading and Math exams. I have incorporated some key ELA skills into a packet that will promote student interaction with the text being taught, while allowing them to practice:

Guide your students through a study of discovering their ancestors and cultures with this family research project. Students interview an ancestor, locate their origin on a world map, discover traditions, foods, and holidays celebrated to create a banner. QFT Lesson Plan/Question Formulation Technique
This lesson is based on Question Formulation Technique or QFT, which prompts students to study an image/artifact, and then work in groups to develop questions based on that image/artifact. The image focused on is a photo of a museum exhibit that deals with the history of Pompeii. All components of a formal lesson plan are included. This set of cards include images of people expressing a range of feelings and emotions including impatience, relaxed, proud, unwell, bored, jealous, hungry, annoyed, surprised, scared, embarrassed, shy, excited, cross, cranky, sleepy, angry, sad, happy, silly, nervous, confused, confident and concentrating. These can be used to support learning about emotions. Print of two copies and laminate and cut out the cards. Use them to play snap, memory, even celebrity heads with a feelings theme.

Arts Integrated ELA: Using Role Play to Teach Evidence-Based Arguments
This lesson is a fun and interactive way to teach and encourage making evidence-based arguments. Students will listen to two versions of a classic fairytale told from two entirely different perspectives. They will then take on the role of lawyers to defend their "clients."
