I had a few students that really needed some more motivation to behave! I also needed to keep documentation for my RTI folder with a few of my little guys. I came up with this plan to document each part of our day. If one of my students got ALL happy faces they would go home with a sticker and a chart that said "Good Day Today!" If they went home with MOSTLY excellent faces-- they would get a trip to my prize box that day. This has worked wonders. Rather than just marking on their calendar wha

Time-Out Writing Assignment

While I don't normally encourage writing as a punishment, this particular assignment is an exception for me. Students are required to hand copy an essay of several paragraphs discussing disruptive behavior and how it takes away from the free education they get in this country (that many other countries do not get). Students have to take ownership for both the negative behavior displayed by writing down everything they did wrong; then they must think of and write down what they will do to make

This is a writing assignment I use for students serving detention with me. It gives them something to do immediately upon entering the room until I am available to conference with them. Students take a slip and write about the 5 school rules that are most likely to have landed them in detention. You can save their writing to show parents at parent conference time. I've attached this as a word document so you can modify it to meet your needs. I placed 4 copies on one sheet to save paper when I
