Claim, Evidence and Reasoning (C.E.R.) Rubric NGSS
This is a rubric that is specifically design for CER's. In next generation science and now in general, science is all about CER's. The student creates a claim based on observations. Then collects evidence to collaborate claim. Finally, the student uses scientific concepts, theories, and laws to reason why his/her claim is a valid claim. Please see my 3 C.E.R. specific tests.

Let's Go Fly a Kite Engineering Project
Students design, build and test a kite over a 3 day period. This is followed by another 3 day period for redesign and additional testing. Project encourages students to share ideas and to use effective engineering skills in an effort to meet the minimum requirement; 30 seconds of flight time with no assistance from the student; i.e. pulling on the string.

Create a Monument - CCSS Final Project for Analyzing Theme in Historical Novels
This is one of my favorite projects. Adaptations Performance Task: A Discovery of an Arthropod

Homemade Board Game Project
This project tasks students to create a board game that will teach a core content topic to other students. These board games could be from any subject (elective, math, science, language arts, etc.). I created this project to encourage my gifted students to utilize game play as a learning tool and as a review tool for difficult concepts. This project can be modified to fit ANY curriculum or area that you need.

Stop Motion Movie Project
Students use a still camera to take still pictures of an object, move the object, and shoot another picture. Process continues until students have several hundred photos. They then use video editing software (iMovie or Windows Movie Maker) to put the pictures together and play them at a high rate of speed to simulate motion. Problem-Based Cell Project
The problem/task that is presented to students is that due to recent budget cuts, elementary teachers are looking for other sources of science educational material and has asked your school to provide materials on cells. Students will work in groups to develop elementary-student-friendly materials as they demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of cells and the cell theory.
