Linear Relationships Art #1 - Graphing Straight Lines - PBL, Project Based LearningThis math art project embodies the principles of project-based learning, merging mathematics with artistic expression to engage students in a multifaceted educational experience. Students will graph 18 linear equations, meticulously tracing each line then creating intricate oblong shapes within spaces created by the lines. The project culminates in a vibrant display of color as students fill in each unique shape,

Students are asked to find an example of time-series data in which the dependent variable (y) varies linearly with time (X). The data should have a strong positive or negative correlation. Students will be asked to: Make a scatter plot of the data. Use a straight edge to draw a line of best fit. Find the equation of the line where they must show work for how they determined this. Use their equation to predict the value of the variable in 2012 and 2018. A very detailed rubric is provided. 1

The graph of this function represents all ordered pair combinations of two kinds of candy that can be bought with $50. This application works for both 8th grade and algebra-1. If you are using it for an algebra-1 class, you could use function notation. 8th graders are not required to use function notation in Common Core. I have included a detailed answer key. The preview above will give you a better idea.

Coordinate Plane Bingo Cards

These cards go with my Coordinate Plane Bingo game, but can be used any time you need a random way to select points to be plotted on the coordinate plane. They are best when printed on blank, pre-perforated business cards, but can be printed on card stock, cut out and laminated for long-lasting use. These cards cover the range from (-9,10) to (-9,-9) and (10,10) to (10,-9) to match the 3-dimensional board created in my Coordinate Plane Bingo game. If you haven't seen it, check it out!

Coordinate Plane Bingo

This is the instructions to build a hands-on coordinate plane game, as well as the grids needed to make a printable version. The coordinate cards are located in a separate file (because I just couldn't figure out how to combine them on here without botching up the formatting!). You don't need both to play, as you can make up your own points for the grid, however, the cards will make your life a lot easier, and make for easy set-up of this game in a center or station. I designed this to work
