I grew up in New York and from as young as I can remember I’ve always enjoyed studying math and science. They were always my favorite subjects in school. In college I majored in Mathematics and fell in love with the more big picture pure side of the field. Once I was done with college I felt like I still had so much more I wanted to learn so the obvious thing was to go do exactly that. I studied Algebraic Topology in my PhD, but after a few years of studying that I realized what I really was passionate about was sharing my love of this subject with others. This led my life down the line of education which brings me to where I am today. I have taught in college (still do for part of my day), but what I really enjoy the most about teaching is getting to work with younger students who are just starting to see all the beautiful sides of mathematics. I love taking complex topics and breaking them down into smaller, more digestible pieces. There is nothing that makes me more happy than seeing a student's perception of math go from either neutral to positive or better yet, negative to positive.
I use a flipped style of teaching in my lower level classes which gives students more time to practice the material and ask me one on one questions in class. I also enjoy less homework, but more open ended questions which let students think outside the box.

In addition to my love of mathematics I am an avid rock climber. My passion for rock climbing and the outdoors is a huge part of why I ended up in Colorado. Most of my free time is spent in the woods and on rocks. I love traveling to new places to climb all around the world and meeting and learning from people in those areas. If you can’t find me rock climbing or solving math problems I’ll probably be mountain or road biking.
