FREE Math Pre-Assessment of Basic Skills: Grades 6-8
This is a FREE Math Pre-Assessment that I use in my Grade 7 classroom. It looks at basic skills - multiplication, division, rounding, place value, area, fractions, percents, decimals etc. It's surprising how many students even in Grade 8 or 9 who struggle with long division, for example. Starting A Small Business Project
This project is designed for 7th-8th graders who have learned how to find unit rate, percents, proportions, and solve/write equations.
I used this activity in a 7th grade honors math class at the end of the year. The students loved this activity! Students felt so proud when making their items and designing their business. When each student brought in their items to sell, it was very neat to see a different side of each student.
Students can be creative as to what they want to sell.

This is a basic math inventory assessment that I give at the beginning of the year to asses the level of my students. This assessment covers comparing and ordering numbers, place value, the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions, decimals and whole numbers. There are NO MULTIPLE CHOICE questions and word problems are worded in Common Core format.
