What educators are saying

Great content, but the actual questions in the pack are just great for getting basic listening skills as well as working on deeper thinking / critical thinking stuff.
Thank god there's actually a talk on climate change that's actually kind of HOPEFUL! Such a relief to not just doom and gloom students all the time. Great resource, too!

Description

A Viewing Guide to get your class thinking about the importance of Sustainability!

Sustainability has been a hot topic in schools for years now, but it almost always comes at the expense of our students feelings of safety and wellbeing. But is that the right approach?

In this TED Talk, Hannah Ritchie addresses the anxiety among young people about climate change. She challenges the belief that past generations were sustainable and presents data showing that recent advancements in technology have decoupled economic growth from environmental degradation. She then urges a reframing of sustainability as an opportunity, not a sacrifice, and emphasizes the importance of using data to inspire action and progress.

This resource includes digital or printable handouts including:

  1. Background sheet on Hannah Ritchie (including the link to the talk)
  2. Pre-Viewing Question sheet to gauge your students current understanding of sustainability.
  3. During Viewing Question sheet to complete as you watch the talk.
  4. Three Options for After Viewing Question Sheets with follow up research tasks, and paragraph responses, designed to solidify and apply what your class has learned.

Use any one of the sheets individually or in combination with the others!

All handouts are in Word format and are 100% editable.

All the best with your (future) environmentalists!
