Students are given a number line to put together and about 30 integers to place on it. This activity is to see students prior knowledge. Before any gluing takes place have a quick discussion and monitor student work to make sure all integers are in their correct location. Afterwards, I had students like at least 4 things they noticed about the numbers on the number line.

I used spirals this year, but they did not hold up throughout the year. Composition books have worked best.
