I like to have seasonal bulletin boards to offer a little change but because I teach math, I want to make sure it's math related. I write the names of the students that successfully completed the puzzle on a shamrock and post on the board as the month goes on. Many students are very motivated by getting their name on the board. This is so valuable in my classroom! At the beginning of the year, I have students graph their previous year's test results (CST's for CA). Then after each Benchmark test, they graph their results, using colors to show their levels. You can revise this according to your grade and state tests. Put on your wall to remind students of their goals!
