Reading collection/questions about Empress Wu Zetian. China, circa 625 to 705 CEThe only Chinese Empress to ever rule in her own right, Wu clawed her way up from concubinage to running China with an iron fist.  A genuinely terrifying person, she was born circa 625 CE and died in 705–peacefully.  She wasn’t empress anymore at that point, but everyone was too scared of her to kill her.
