It is essentially a close read that allows students to focus on something specific each time they read the word problem. I did not create the method, but I noticed that there was little in the form of useful graphic organizers. I created this form in

Not only does it help students continue to get work over the summer, it helps keep a routine for those students that need it. The program has over 16 writing prompts that focus on

Daily Math Fact Log

Created by

I use these math fact tracking sheets for students to log their math facts every day when doing timed facts tests. The assignment portion of the log allows you to put which facts they are working on, whether its multiplication, division etc. My favorite part is the space where students can write the facts they missed on the test. This helps them reflect on which facts they need to work on. Over time, students really gain ownership of their facts and start to see trends in their growth!

Before and After Number practice

This graphic organizer will help kids recognize the meaning and placement for Before and After numbers. This is great for ESOL who struggle with the vocabulary terms. This could be used as a game, if the students roll dice to generate a number or have students draw a card with a number, they could even use playing cards to make their number. This is easy to differentiate, by using one or even two digit numbers.
