Genre Review Task Cards - SMARTboard Version
Included in this packet are 32 genre task cards and an answer key.
Each card has selection title and short synopsis of a reading selection. Students are to label the genre and subgenre of the selection. This is a great way to review genre types with students, especially before any kind of state testing.

Used for a formal observation in a 4th grade predominantly ENL setting, this minilesson uses Teacher's College-like teaching points and follows a workshop model.
It requires the use of the passage, "The Story of Chocolate" which is released online at engageny.com and is practice material for the NYS ELA exam.

The Gardener Review
The Gardener by Robert Louis Stevenson
This is a very fun SmartBoard activity to use as an assessment or a review on the poem, The Gardener. The game designed to use a koosh ball or bean bag to throw at the watering cans to bring up a question. If you don't want to use this technique students can touch a watering can and a question will open. You can also use the questions as a test without using the watering cans. The poem is included along with some vocabulary words.
