I have typed up the lyrics to 3 of the history songs (No More Kings, Shot Heard Round the World and the Preamble) but have removed certain words. My students watch the video once and then fill in the lyrics as we listen a second (and sometimes third) time to the song. Sakura in A Minor Pentatonic for Recorder
This is a paper I use with my students for melody reading using the Japanese folk song Sakura. It begins on A and is easily playable on the recorder in A minor pentatonic. The top of the paper has letters in boxes representing the notes for those students who are not reading music on the staff or those who are having trouble with reading music on the staff. We will often focus on one area of the page or the other.

The Star-Spangled Banner Writing project.
This worksheet is designed to help students understand the meaning of our National Anthem by having them re-write the first verse of the Star-Spangled Banner, line by line, using language that we use today. Directions are given at the beginning and a line is printed under each phrase to allow the student to rewrite each phrase right next to the original.
