This is an Inclusion Demonstration Activity for Grades 6-9 and would be great at "Back to School" time, for a Health class, a unit on discrimination or if bullying is an issue in your class.

Planning a Healthy Meal and Shopping Template (Special Education)
This is a meal planning guide that incorporates the 5 basic food groups. Students will use a cookbook to decide on the main course of the meal, and from there will add on side dishes to help balance the food groups presented in the meal. Students will then make a shopping list of the needed materials. If applicable, they can shop for the food items at the store, working to find the total cost of purchase, use the "dollar up" method to pay, and calculate the amount of change they should get back.

BMI Eating and Exercise Internet Simulation/WebQuest
Use this simulation webquest with your Anatomy, PE/Health, Biology, or Life Skills class to help students to understand the connection between caloric intake, exercise, and BMI. Students will also get an opportunity to investigate the impact of their own lifestyle and their body composition. This can also be used as a laboratory activity for a science class.

Halloween Party - Math Problem Solving
In this activity, students will be planning a Halloween party for their class. They will need to "purchase" supplies for their party using a budget that you set. I set a budget that forces the students to make budget choices, i.e., I don't give them enough to buy everything they want. Students will work in partners to plan their party, making decisions based on their budget constraints. Students are also asked to perform some data analysis on the party choices. Human Body Corporation Debates
Fantastic constructivist curriculum unit integrating reading, research, oral communication, peer collaboration, technology, and debate with the content of the human body systems. Sure to be a motivating, memorable learning experience for elementary intermediate aged students on up through high school.
