I’m an economics professor, but I have a side business as an independent filmmaker, and this fun role-playing activity shows an actual real world decision-making process I went through, using basic supply and demand calculations, to determine the best locations to sell the DVDs of a movie I made — but the process can be applied to any business trying to determine optimal retail markets for their selling their product.

In this activity you are presenting the students with a fun and festive scenario! Santa has asked them to be the local Santa Letter Headquarters! They need to analyze how quickly the letters are coming in (one function) compared to how quickly letters can be processed by the local elves (second function).
