I use this project as part of the addition and subtraction unit in my 3rd grade classroom. It gives students a real world scenario in which they would use their knowledge of addition and subtraction to manage money. The kids love it because it offers a lot of choice and is very fun! Perimeter and Area Real World Task
This task asks students to pretend they have been hired by a home improvement company to solve two problems for them. The first job requires students to examine the relationship between perimeter and area to help "Mr. Baker" design his garden.
