This Reader's Theater was written for a small group of 5 students. It is intended to introduce or review place value. Citizen does not understand place value and how it works. Citizen wants to give up and decides that they are not good at math. The League of Incredible Mathematicians comes to explain that math is about perseverance, patience, a positive attitude, and problem solving. This Reader's Theater was written for a small group of 3 students. It is intended to introduce - or review for students who are struggling - place value periods as well as the fact that each period has ones, tens, and hundreds. In the script, The census taker is going from door to door to find out who lives there and finds a neighborhood where EVERYONE looks the same. They all have the same names as well. Here is a puzzle that we made with some of the students in class.
They all enjoyed making this puzzle and it really helped them with their place value as they were able to test each other on a range of skills.

"America's Got Math Talent" Place Value Reader's Theater
Reader's theaters are a great way for students to improve their reading fluency. Use this script in a math or language arts classroom.
There are 26 parts altogether but it can be broken down into more if needed, or multiple parts can be assigned to a single reader. I have used this script for both whole group and small group performances.
