This project is very interesting in that the students learn who developed the math that we use in the world. This project combines creativity, research and math content into one project. The project can be used as an end of the grading period, semester or year project. Note: Some construction is necessary by the teacher - Measuring, creating patterns on poster boards.Other projects you may be interested in:Circle Graphs using a Sport SurveyLine Plot & Bar Graph Using Real-Life Data Mini-Proj

Ping Pong Ball Launcher Project and Rubric

This project combines the mathematics of slope with percent grade and angle of elevation. Then, students apply the science process of engineering to design and tinker with a launcher that demonstrates the physics of projectiles and parabolic curves. I am using this project during my linear equations in two variables unit to re-enforce the concept of slope and make connections to right triangle trig - Tangent. The next unit for my students is functions and we study linear, quadratic, and expon

This a compilation of all of the other flow documents that I have created. Individual topics are available for sale. This document takes anything that relates to each topic from 7th grade in the Common Core from Kindergarten to Secondary Math 3 and lines it up. (7th grade math is the main focus and highlighted in blue.) The order presented is the order I taught the Core last year. There are 3 projects in this bundle. I let students choose which option they wanted to do for their end of the year project. The 1st project is creating a zoo with given parameters. The 2nd project is determining who the best major league baseball player currently in the major leagues is based on research students conduct. The 3rd project is creating a board game based on different parameters which must include a math concept from the school year. These are great as end of unit projects or

Mathematics Research Project

This is a great end of year research project for any math course at a multitude of grade levels! From start to end of presentations, this project took me two weeks to complete - I give specific dates for each goal and give a grade for completion of each goal. The points I gave are listed on the information sheet. I created this in Word and it can be edited to fit your classroom and your needs. Students are asked to research a famous mathematician, write a research paper and give a presentation.
