TEACHING EXPERIENCE

30+ years of teaching middle school, primarily focused on math, algebra and geometry, as well as advanced placement math classes. Have also taught adult education algebra classes, as well as high school math equivalency classes for high school dropouts, in the areas of basic math and algebra. Have also taught history, government, geography! Sponsored National Junior Honor Society. Eighth grade team leader for 10 years. Middle School Math Curriculum Coordinator; competition coordinator.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I prefer for students to work in pairs. Students have a warm up activity and a review of concepts taught in the unit so far, then are taught a lesson and work in pairs to solve the day's problems. Each student is responsible for a math notebook containing vocabulary, examples, formulas, drawings, definitions. Homework is typically a review and practice assignment to be completed within a couple of days. Students have my home phone number, and can receive tutoring before or after school.
