Volume Research Project | Cylinder, Cone, Sphere
Students will be doing some research on three different unique buildings or structures from around the world. Included are some examples of cylinder, cone, and sphere shaped structures. Students are going to get into the mind of the architects and construction workers who designed and built these or are still in the process of building them. Students apply math as well as reading and writing anchor standards while learning about water distribution, usage, and conservation in California. This is a Project-Based Learning activity. The activity asks the students to calculate multiple volumes of similar three-dimensional figures, as well as make multiple other calculations and write out the steps that they took to find their answer as an expression or equation.
