Christmas Shopping Project
This project is a great assessment for the Christmas season! The students are to create a list of people and friends they want to buy gifts for. The students will then research online to find the cost of each item. They will also have to find coupons for each item and be able to calculate the sale cost. The students will determine how much money they saved using coupons. The total amount on all gifts purchased with coupon must be equal or close to $200.

Students need to use a grocery store flyer to shop for an entire Thanksgiving meal. Each category has pictures straight from the grocery store flyer. I used Market Basket this week, but almost all of these items are also for sale in Shaws and Stop & Shop, as well. I made it a Word document, so you can easily replace the images if you want! This is a math project for upper elementary or middle school students.
Students inherit a large sum of money and must spend it all in a short amount of time. This unit covers banking, discounts, and sales tax. I use this with my middle school special education math class and with certain accommodations, my students do very well with the assignment and like it a lot.
