The River-Merchant's Wife: A Letter
This is a lovely poem by Ezra Pound, based on his reading of a letter by the Chinese writer Li Po. We examined it for the imagery, mood, symbolism, dynamic characterization, and its narrative storyline. Many student responses follow. The presentation of the poem has space for annotations.
