Free Chrysanthemum SEL Lesson Wrinkled Heart Activity Back to School Activities
During this lesson I give each student a heart to hold. I read the book out loud to them. Each time they heard a student in the story bullying and not using nice words they wrinkled the heart a little. At the end we tried to smooth out the heart. The students learn that their not-so-nice words wrinkle someone else's heart and it's hard to fix it once it's said. My kindergarten students loved acting out scenarios demonstrating various emotions using these fun, colorful (printed) puppets! The highlight was that they could easily change the facial expressions with the wipe of a cloth (or, in the updated option, turn of the roll).I made the color set by attaching images to business size envelopes, laminating them and cutting the bottom open.
