Collect it! Review of Atoms and Subatomic Particles
Add a spinner or die and a few game pieces, and a group of 2-4 students can play a card game to reinforce their knowledge of atomic structure and how to use the Periodic Table to determine the number of subatomic particles. Students arrange the 39 question cards in an oval manner and take turns spinning/rolling to move their game pieces. Programmed Excel workbook provides immediate feedback on whether the typed in answer is correct or incorrect through the use of a point and color "scorecard" to the right of the work. Students have the opportunity to correct mistakes in order to learn the right way of writing ionic compounds and repeat that method in lieu of repeating mistakes and repeating negative habits.
