Socratic Seminar: Who Should Be on American Currency?
The images we see around us daily have a subtle yet profound effect. In this Socratic seminar, students consider American currency and consider: should the faces on the bills be changed or stay the same? The learn who is featured on currency now and think on who could be. This activity can be used during an American History course as students learn about figures like Andrew Jackson and Harriet Tubman, or can be used as a general debate in any Social Studies or English-Language Arts classroom.

With this project, students will use the information they learned about Andrew Jackson to make an informed choice as to which award to give him. The students will use reasoning and support their claims of the award by describing the effects of Jackson's presidency. My students loved this activity and I did a full classroom redectoration to make it look like a real awards show!

Your students are given a choice to complete 2 out of 3 scenarios involving systems of equations. They involve writing and solving systems based on real life situations. One has no solution, infinite solutions, and one solution. They have to do a write up based on a rubric involving ccss indicators. This can be done individually or as a group activity.
