September 11th Guided Notes & Activity for Grades 2,3,4 (The Walshie Workshop)
Explaining the events of 9/11 is tough to do, especially when it is to a group of children. This is how I would do it each year.
I presented the topic to the kids with guided notes (cloze) and then followed it up with either an online video, read aloud book, or both. Then I would end the discussion and lesson with The Courageous Quilt activity. This was important because the kids took away an empowering and positive message from such a tragic and terrible day in our history.
