Tall Tale Lesson: John Henry +10 Reading Comprehension Multiple Choice Questions
In this mini-lesson students read a selection to see why a folk song was written about the tall tale hero, John Henry. Then they answer ten multiple choice questions by putting a circle around each correct answer. Along with two colorful drawings of John Henry being a steel driving man, you get two pages of informational text and three stanzas of the John Henry folk song. I use this resource with my 5th grade class to introduce the lovely poem by Maya Angelou.
