Bonjour! I am Cécile Lainé, a French teacher who is passionate about growing alongside her students. After years of working in the corporate world, I decided to follow my heart, get my Master of Education, and make the jump as a World Language teacher; I never looked back! I am finally where I belong professionally: surrounded by young hearts and minds, and professionals who care for them (that’s you). I love telling stories to my students, watching their confidence grow along their language skills, but also their understanding, appreciation, and respect for the diverse francophone cultures. I have taught in many different settings over the past decade, including a year teaching Elementary and another year teaching at an all-girls independent school. Mostly, I have been a public middle and high school teacher. I am very involved in coaching and training World Language teachers at the local, regional, and national level, helping authors publish comprehensible books in French, publishing a monthly newsletter for students learning French, and blogging regularly about teaching for proficiency using stories. I have also recently published a language reader! If you are located in the Southeast US (TN, KY, GA, AL) and are looking for training and mentorship as you seek to transition to an input-based classroom and/or strengthen the kind of input that you are already providing your students, I would be honored to help you achieve your goals. I look forward to working with you!
Comprehensible Input (CI) and carefully chosen authentic resources are my main instructional philosophies in order to develop my Novice learners' language proficiency. Once we have established a strong foundation, I also leverage Integrated Performance Assessments (IPA).
