TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching ELA in Texas for 12 years. I currently teach AP Literature and Composition and EOC Reading (an intervention course for students struggling to pass their state graduation exams). I have also taught English IV (British Literature) and English III (American Literature).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a teacher with high expectations for all of my students who believes that the best defense against classroom issues (both behavioral and academic) is to be prepared. I think, analyze, and plan until I figure out what works. I am constantly improving and building upon my experiences in the classroom.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have written curriculum for our department, most recently, the English III curriculum. I also created the curriculum for my EOC reading class from scratch over the past two years. Two years ago, my department nominated me to be teacher of the year for our school. Though I didn't win the big prize, I was flattered to represent our department.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a B.A. in English from Stephen F. Austin State University
