TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an elementary library media specialist for 10 years, but I taught kindergarten, first and second grades before making the switch to a specialist position.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love reading to my students and guiding them along their path to literacy. I have the unique advantage of watching my readers grow for six years instead of just one year in the classroom.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been selected as a Common Core Coach and have enjoyed training other teachers in implementing common core lessons in their classrooms.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

East Tennessee State University, BS in Elementary Education East Tennessee State Universtiy, MEd in Media Services East Tennessee State University, +45 hours in Reading and Library Certification Courses

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Reading is a passion which I love sharing with my two children who are 16 and 8. (My students think it's hilarious that their librarian has a son named 'Reed'!) I like music, sports and spending lots of time with my family.
