Starting from my first year as math teacher, I have had to create my own notes, homework, practice and additional content. I took joy in this process, and loved creating scaffolded, engaging and meaningful material. My goal was to engage, reach and motivate all students. I know all too well the lack of a viable curriculum provided by the district one works for, and strive to deliver proper content that matches state and common core standards, while genuinely allowing students to learn and succeed in the content.
In years of refining, I have formulated a a multi-step approach. Scaffolded, meaningful notes students can resort back to, a mult-level practice that leads students into the material and challenges them with more difficult problems, spiral learning to keep past content fresh and meaningful, concept checks, quizzes and unit exams.
