TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught upper secondary and adults for 18 years. I also teach at a local university as an adjunct professor of English. I have the best job in the world and continue to find great delight in my students and the content I teach.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I encourage my students to question and confront ideas. My class is interactive and hands-on. I have also had good success in modeling work and using samples to demonstrate good practices to students. I am a believer in personal and creative writing and character building as many of my students come from very difficult backgrounds.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My students have consistently scored 5-7 points higher in state testing than the highest scoring school district in our area. I know longer teach yearbook but when I did my yearbook program was recognized as a National Yearbook Program of Excellence for 5 years straight.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's degree in English, minor in Journalism and Bible. I have a Master's degree in Education, Supervision and Administration emphasis and a second Masters in English.
