I have taught high school mathematics for 13 years. My students have always increased their scores after having my class. The schools I taught at got invited to talk at the Washington math conference about WASL improvement, as well as winning multiple Washington Achievement Awards for mathematics improvement. I have put together Concept Based (Standards Based) curriculums that help student to learn the crucial skills needed in each course.
I teach my students with a comprehensive concept based curriculum. I think it is important for students to have multiple opportunities to learn the material. I find the concepts students need to learn based on the standards and then practice them in a flipped classroom setting. My flipped classroom is where the students work 1st and I teach second. This allows students the ability to practice and identify the mathematics using their interactive notebooks to solve problems, as well as come up with their personal points of confusion. Students get multiple chances per concept on assessments, as well as taking comprehensive tests in each class.
