I have four teaching certifications: early childhood, early childhood special, elementary, and collaborative education. I am also a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certified by the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA). I currently teach resource and inclusion special education at a public, rural, elementary school in Alabama. I believe that all people can learn to read when given appropriate instruction.
I value education that empowers all students toward a multitude of future career paths by promoting problem solving skills, the ability and inclination to think critically, appropriate and effective communication, and compassionate interactions with other. I strive to teach and model not only academic lessons, but also empathy.
The best award I receive is student success. Professional honors include: Teacher of the Year-School Level 2017... Certified Academic Language Therapist 2017... Google Level I Certified Educator 2017... Presented Schoolwide Professional Development 2016, 2017... One Teacher at a Time Grant 2016... Presented System-wide Professional Development 2015...
