TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an English teacher and track coach for the last seventeen years! During this time, I taught at the eighth grade level for ten years, took some time off to have twins, then got back into the district at the high school level. I have had the opportunity to present at numerous educational and technology-related conferences including our state Middle-Level Conference, and TIE Conferences. I have completed the Laying the Foundation Pre-AP Institute. I also working with the South Dakota Department of Education as an internet consultant to create the SDEDWeb.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I advocate the use of technology and hands-on activities in my teaching. Since I teach in a 1:1 computer school (each student has a laptop) my activities frequently incorporate the use of technology. I also strive to create a close reading activity (an activity that CLOSELY examines the author's style) for each major work of literature I teach. My lessons focus on the Common Core Standards.
